Critical Tool for Advancement: The printed Handbook is essential for tracking progress—once obtained, Scouts use it directly to start working toward rank requirements, so it is vital to bring to every Troop meeting and campout.
Youth-Led Sign-Offs: Unlike Cub Scouts, new Scouts must approach higher ranked Youth Leaders to demonstrate knowledge and request sign-offs. Even registered Adult Leaders will redirect Scouts to Youth Leaders for sign-offs.
Protecting the Handbook: Because it accompanies Scouts everywhere and holds their permanent records, using a durable cover or zip-up pouch is strongly recommended to protect it from weather and wear. The Scout Shop has ones that fit the handbook well.
Online Progress Tracking: Scoutbook Plus is our online system for tracking advancement—parents have a login to monitor their Scout's profile and view percentage progress toward the next rank.

Syncing Handbook & Scoutbook Plus:
Parents are welcome to update Scoutbook Plus to match the printed Handbook requirements that have already been signed off by a higher ranked Scout or Adult Leader.
Any requirement marked complete in Scoutbook Plus still requires digital approval from the Troop Adult Leadership.
Scout Access:
Scouts can access Scoutbook Plus by creating a my.scouting.org account.
Watch for the Records Match prompt during setup to link the account directly to their existing Member ID number.
