Review Requirements: Check your Scout Handbook for rank requirements and develop a plan to complete them. The handbook contains everything needed for all ranks up to First Class. Ranks up to First Class can be worked on all at the same time.
Complete Requirements & Sign Off: Learn and master skills with other Scouts. Once complete, request a sign-off in your Scout Handbook from a higher-ranked Scout.
Scoutmaster Conference: At a Monday Troop Meeting, sign up for a Scoutmaster Conference on the sheet in the foyer. The Scoutmaster or Assistant Scoutmaster will review your overall progress and growth.
Board of Review: Held on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month. Sign up on the foyer sheet during a meeting. Troop Leaders will meet with you to review your progress, future goals, and ideas for the troop.
Receive Rank Patch: Upon passing your Board of Review, you will receive your new rank patch so it can be sewn onto your uniform shirt.
Receive Rank Card: At the next Court of Honor, you will be formally recognized and receive your official rank pocket card.
Keep & Display: File your rank card in your Scout Achievements Binder.
Important Note on Uniforms & Preparation: Scoutmaster Conferences and Boards of Review are formal events. Scouts must wear their full Field Uniform (Class A)—including their Merit Badge Sash if they have 3 or more badges. Always bring your Scout Handbook and Scout Achievements Binder to both.
Rank Requirements:
Authorized youth and adult leaders sign off requirement completion directly in the Scout Handbook.
Boys Troop: A Scout of a higher rank can sign off requirements for Scouts who are two or more ranks below them (e.g., a Second Class Scout can sign off on Scout Rank requirements).
Girls Troop: A Scout of a higher rank can sign off requirements for Scouts who are at least one rank below them (e.g., a Tenderfoot Scout can sign off on Scout Rank requirements).
Scoutmaster Conferences & Boards of Review:
Adult Leaders sign off these milestones.
