February 2006 - Search and Rescue

Search and Rescue Campout
After much discussion with Pocahontas Park, BSA Camp Albright and Troop 860 leadership, we have concluded that the best place to have this campout is on private property. Consequently, we will have our campout on 4600 acres of land owned by Amelia Timber Company. Located on Taylor Road in Chesterfield County, the site is only 6.1 miles from the entrance of Woodlake. Mr. Werner and I scouted out the area and discovered several sites for both the camping and the search training.

The campout is for one night only and only two meals will be prepared by the Troop (Cook Patrol), which will be dinner on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday morning. So make sure all scouts are fed breakfast on Saturday morning and everyone carries a packed lunch and water.

We will be working on the two merit badges (Emergency Preparedness and Wilderness Survival).
