2010 SCRUB

Here goes – I had several requests for a map and thanks to Monty McNeill, I have a couple from last year as well as a google map link if you need assistance finding Shelter Cove parking lot….I know that I did last year.  If you zoom in two to three times on the embedded link, you will see Shelter Cove Rd – we will meet at the Shelter Cove parking lot to distribute bags and gloves for Scouts and Scouters.,-77.676086&spn=0.034084,0.04549&z=14&source=embed

I anticipate that we will work the shorelines around Shelter Cove as well as Rock Harbour (which will serve as our main collection site again this year).  We retrieved quite a bit of trash from those areas last year and know that we will probably be able to get to even more this year with the reservoir levels still below average.  Please try to separate the recyclable aluminum cans that we are certain to find – we have several volunteers to deliver those to a recycling center so we can help “Close the Loop”!

Thanks for your time and service to the community.  See you tomorrow morning at 9AM.

Greetings Troop 860!

I have news about our upcoming SCRUB II event. After consulting with Mrs. Rymer at a previous meeting and looking at the Reservoir recently, it will be better to move our SCRUB II event to the weekend of October 16th.

This will allow the reservoir to recede a bit, free up some of our critical access and resource contacts (Mrs. Rymer and her connections to the associations that help maintain the Reservoir) and more importantly will allow our senior scouts to take an active role in planning and LEADING the event. The experience that our young leaders will gain from planning, coordinating, and leading on that day will be invaluable as they work on their Eagle projects.

By the way – for those of you who were geared up for an event on the 18th of September, consider Publick Days @ Henricus – there is a newly dedicated and blessed Yehakin (unlike anything you have ever seen) in the Arrohateck Village AND they will be unveiling their 17th Century ship replica, Phoenix. It will be a great weekend and one you won’t want to miss!

See you all on OCTOBER 16th…and those of you who have access to boats or trailers, expect a call or visit from one of our Scouts!
