In the Spring of each year, we join our sister Troop (806) for a combined campout to recognize those selected for the Order of the Arrow (OA). The campout takes place on Mike Pace's Farm (Mike is the Scoutmaster of Troop 806), a beautiful property near Courthouse and 288. We will meet early on Saturday morning April 18th at the Woodlake Indoor Pool parking lot, and proceed to the Farm (directions are shown below). After setting up tents, our first year scouts will attend stations that will assist them with several of their rank requirements. Merit Badge classes will be offered for the older scouts. OA members will assist with setting up the evening ceremony, and other older scouts will assist with stations. After lunch, the first year scouts will continue with skills stations, OA members will continue with set up, and all other older scouts will continue with Merit Badge classes: The evening involves all family members, and you are all invited! Meals- Please eat Saturday morning before we meet. Also, please pack a bag lunch for Saturday afternoon. Saturday evening will be our Family Picnic Supper as noted below. Sunday morning breakfast will be provided by the Troop, and we will be home before lunch. Saturday Family Picnic and OA Ceremony- Families are invited to join us at the Farm beginning at 5:00 pm for dinner and the evening activities. Each family is requested to bring a meat dish for their family and 2 other dishes (veggie or desert) to share. Electricity is not available. Hot dishes should be insulated in a picnic fashion. Parking is generally close to the dining location. After dinner there will be a campfire ceremony and the OA Tap Out will begin after dark. We recommend you bring a lawn chair or something to set on. Gear and Uniforms- We will wear uniforms at night for dinner and the OA ceremony (OA members are reminded to bring their sash). Please dress casual for Saturday morning, Scouts should be in Class B uniform (scout theme T shirt is fine), but remember to BRING YOUR CLASS A UNIFORM for Saturday night. Each scout should bring their tent, sleeping bag, flashlight, handbook, and paper and pen for Merit Badge classes, as well as clothes appropriate for the weather. Also, you may want to consider a hat and suntan lotion for Saturday. I will send out more details after the break. Please make sure to turn in permission slips at the next meeting, April 15, if you plan to attend (copy attached). One additional note- there are often scouts who need to arrive late or leave for part of the day because of soccer, etc. Please make sure to check in (or out) with Mr. Wheeler when leaving or arriving.
