2009 Devil's Marbleyard

The Devil’s Marble Yard is coming up – a scant few weeks away. It is time to get thinking about how much FUN this is going to be and what a BEAUTIFUL time of year to be in the mountains. Cool weather, glorious foliage - Woo! I can’t wait.

Backpackers will be heading to a different location - the Mt. Pleasant are.  See here for the details.

Base Camp:

With two different groups going to the mountains next week end, I sensed some confusion among the first year/ second year scouts and parents. So, allow me to shed some light and share some information that I hope will help. This is NOT for the backpackers. This is for the CAMP OUT.

This is for the campers who will day hike the DMYard. The scouts on CAMP OUT will need to buy food for two meals: Saturday Breakfast and Saturday Dinner. PARENTS: You need to discus a meal plan with your scout and have him try making something himself this week end. Two meals are not hard. We won’t let them starve. They have been watching and learning during these last three meetings. It is time to put it into practice. The troop has reimbursed for camp out food. Please save your receipts and turn them in. (Not you, back packers! Just the CAMP OUT folks.)

Gear: Standard “car camping gear” (Tent, ground cloth, sleeping pad, change of clothes, rain gear, etc. –Sturdy footwear- (I like my ankle support. Scouts can get by with less.).)
