2007 Winter Camping

Winter Wilderness Survival Campout

After a little wait due to a holiday business rush at my work and vacations by property owners, we have finally selected a campsite for the Winter survival camping on January 13th and 14th. We have chosen historic Tuxmar Farm which is about 5 miles or so from Foxcroft and Woodlake. Located on Genito Road, near Mt Hermon Road in Chesterfield County, the site is situated on 180 acres of a farm that has not been used for several decades; has a mixture of high grass and woods. I have scouted out the area and discovered several sites for both the camping and the associated training. FYI the road into the site is nicely graveled and without car eating mud puddles.

The campout is for one night only and only two meals will be prepared by the Troop (Cook Patrol), which will be dinner on Saturday evening and breakfast on Sunday morning. So make sure all scouts are fed breakfast on Saturday morning and everyone carries a packed lunch and water.
