Pace Farm Campout
Our next campout, and a first for many of our new scouts, is the "Pace
Farm Campout". This is an annual event for Troops 860 and 806, where we
join together for a day of training, a family picnic, and an incredible
ceremony where we recognize the Scouts that have been elected into the
Order of the Arrow, Scouting's Honor Society for Campers. This is one
you do not want to miss!
The campout will be April 14th and 15th (one night) and will take place
on Mike Pace's Farm, located just a few miles away near the
intersection of Rt. 288 and Courthouse Road. The farm is an incredible
setting, and the Order of the Arrow Ceremony is always best in class.
This campout is typically the first campout for our newest members, and
this year we have the additional confusion of the campout dates being
the end of the Spring Break Week. We will be getting more information
out in the next few days, but I wanted to provide a couple of "quick
facts" on the campout to get us started. Also, since we will not have a
meeting during Spring Break week, I wanted to provide a Permission Slip
that you can bring for tonight's meeting or next week.
Permission Slip
The Permission Slip is due at this Wednesday's troop meeting.

Quick Facts:
- Money and Permission Slips will be collected at the meeting tonight and the meeting next week.
- We will meet Saturday morning at 7:15 and return Sunday around
1:00 (Scouts will call via cell on the way home to update the time).
- We will leave from the parking lot across from the Woodlake Indoor Pool, and return there as well.
- Families are invited to come to a "Pot Luck" Picnic dinner and
stay for the OA ceremony- more information on "what to bring" will be
provided in the next e-mail as well as directions. Families are welcome
any time after 5:00. Dinner begins at 6:00. A program begins after
dinner, and the OA ceremony begins at approximately 8:00. Families
should bring chairs or blankets for their group.
- A note for our new parents- PLEASE DO NOT GO OUT AND BUY EQUIPMENT FOR THIS CAMPOUT!!!
Your scout will be fine with whatever he has. We will be talking about
recommended equipment over the next few weeks, and I would prefer that
you have a chance to look at what we recommend, rather than rush out
now. We have 5 tents that the Troop owns that we can lend, and this
will be about a 100 yard walk, so backpacks are not needed. Bring what
you have and you will be fine!
- Food- Eat breakfast at home on Saturday, Lunch Saturday is
provided, Dinner Saturday is the Potluck, Breakfast Sunday is provided.
- Uniforms are required for Saturday night (new scouts- wear
what you have). PLEASE WEAR COMFORTABLE CLOTHES ON SATURDAY MORNING TO
AVOID HAVING TO CHANGE.
- We will arrive at the campout at 8:00, set-up tents, and begin
skills work around 9:00. Our new Scouts will be in skills classes
before and after lunch. Second year Scouts will be in Junior Leadership
Training in the morning, then in MB classes in the afternoon. Older
Scouts will be assisting with the OA set-up (OA Members), teaching
skills classes, and participating in MB classes.
