Campout Information
This will be a one night campout, and it will be held on the farm of Mike Pace, the Scoutmaster of Troop 806, and the campout is a joint-Troop affair. The farm is about 10 minutes away from WUMC, near the intersection of 288 and Courthouse (directions will be provided). The Troop will go out on Saturday morning, set up camp, then participate in training sessions and special events through the day. All new and first year scouts will participate in "Camp Savvy"- completing skills for rank advancement. Second year scouts will attend Junior Leadership Training in the morning, and participate in other activities in the afternoon, including archery, shotgun, pioneering, etc. OA members will assist with final preparations for the campout throughout the day. Each scout should eat breakfast at home and bring a bag lunch for Saturday afternoon. Parents and Families are invited to the evening ceremonies and a family dinner. Families should plan on arriving between 5-6:00. Each family will be asked to bring two side dishes (more to follow on specifics- we are waiting to hear from T806). After the dinner, there will be a time for skits, etc., then at approximately 8:00 we will move to the Lakefront for the Tap Out ceremony. Following the Tap Out, the families will return home, and the Scouts will have Cracker Barrel, play capture the flag, and retire. Breakfast on Sunday will be provided by the Troop(s). Following Breakfast, the Troops will have a Worship Service, then police the camp. The Troops will then have an inter-Troop Volleyball Tournament. Departure is anticipated around 12:00. All Scouts should travel in Class A uniforms and be prepared to change after reaching the farm. Uniforms will be required at dinner and the OA ceremony.
